Amy Bowen- CMHC, NCC

As your therapist, I will work from a humanistic approach, which means you are the expert on your own life. My role is to help you move through trauma and ineffective behaviors to more fully understand and respect yourself.  All of my work with you will be done through a trauma-based lens to encourage self-compassion and challenge shame. Your life going forward doesn't have to be a repeat of your past.

Traumatic experiences (which everyone has) create the need for coping, which can include a variety of addictions (perfectionism, social media, food, control, sex, pornography, substance use, etc.). As you come to therapy, we will work to identify what patterns you have used to cope, and tease out how to create more effective strategies for the future.

I am trained in EMDR and love to use this technique with Internal Family Systems (inner child work) to process trauma. My niche areas include working with the neurodivergent community (ADHD + autism), dissociation, complex PTSD, depression and anxiety. All therapeutic work I do aims to affirm your core identities, including sexuality, and I enjoy working with the LGBTQIA+ community. I offer individual and couples sessions.

If your price point doesn't account for individual therapy, I am currently offering two group options for adults that meet once/week: Healing from Narcissistic Abuse and Religious Deconstruction.
