As a medication prescriber I want to make sure that you have been educated about the various treatment options. These options often include non-medication treatment, nutritional supplements and prescription medications. Before prescribing any medication it is important that your questions and concerns have been addressed and that you are onboard with the plan. For many people, taking medication is a regular part of their daily routine, and these medicines are relied upon to treat disease and improve health. Although medicines can make you feel better and help you get well, it's important to know that all medicines, both prescription and over-the-counter, have risks as well as benefits.
It is very important to help one navigate the mental health world and get the needed support. I have had many life experiences that have allowed me to understand how vital good mental health care and medication management is for those in need. I remember how stressful it was to get a loved one their needed mental health care with a provider and having to wait for over six months to get treatment. This experience motivated me to pursue my Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) degree to help alleviate the long wait to get treatment.
I received my Master of Science in Nursing, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) degree from Gonzaga University. I am a graduate from the associate degree Registered Nurse program at Brigham Young University-Idaho and Bachelor Science Nursing program at Brigham Young University. I have over 3 decades of experience in working in the health industry.
