Melissa Nichols, LCSW

As a therapist, I take an honest and direct approach and want to get to know you well enough and build a trusting relationship that will allow this. This will allow me to assist you in learning to cope with and manage your personal and relational patterns. I also believe that people are in charge of their own lives and can change if they put their minds to it. I have a strong belief that feelings of enoughness, connection, and belonging are crucial to a well rounded and fulfilling life. People often underestimate and miscalculate their capability and value. I also intimately understand that life can be HARD! But also have hope that we can heal through these challenges.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I received my Masters in Social Work from San Diego State University in May 2011 and prior to that received my Bachelors of Social Work from Weber State University in 2009. I have worked as a therapist for over a decade in several treatment settings including: outpatient, residential, and in home services. For as long as I can remember, I knew I wanted to help people and as a small girl had a strong intuition when people were going through challenges and needed support.

I specialize in helping teens and adults work through depression, anxiety, trauma/PTSD, addiction, co-occurring disorders,  attachment and role transitions. I utilize an eclectic mix of treatment modalities including: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Family Systems Therapy and clients centered therapy.

I was born and raised in Brigham City, Utah. I spent time in southern California where I met my husband. We returned to Utah together and have been here since 2014. We have two spunky daughters who are 6 and 12. During non-work time, we spend time swimming, camping, and traveling as a family.
